Paresh Rawal Issues Clarification Over His ‘Cook Fish For Bengalis’ Remark; Say, ‘Hurts To Know That People I Look Up To Misunderstood Me’

Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal is known for his controversial statements and tweet. He made it to the headlines last year for confirming Kartik Aaryan’s casting in Hera Pheri 3 and for his remark against the Bengalis during a campaign rally in Gujarat. Not only did her face the wrath of the audience for his statement, but he was also summoned by the Kolkata police for his ‘cook fish for Bengalis’ comment.
During a recent interview with Mid-Day, the actor-politician shared that he didn’t mean any harm and it was just slip of tongue. The actor, who is all set to essay the role of Bengali storyteller in his upcoming movie ‘The Storyteller’, said, “It was a slip of the tongue, and what I said was misconstrued. I genuinely didn’t mean any harm to anybody. For the unversed, the 67-year-old actor had talked about migrants coming to live in Gujarat. During the campaign, he had said, “Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Talking about his upcoming movie, the former member of Lok Sabha will be seen playing the role of a storyteller, hired by a businessman to cure his insomnia. The movie also stars Adil Hussain, Revathy and Tannishtha Chatterjee. It was premiered at the 27th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in October 2022.
